“Learning Place Town Hall” offered an interesting program – “The World in the Classroom”
“We have the world in the classroom,” says the contact person for language courses at the ISE Language and Vocational Training Center and lecturer Gabriele Stucke. Twenty participants from twelve nations are attending their current integration course, which includes a total of 660 hours and focuses particularly on learning the German language.
In addition, social, societal and cultural content is also part of the educational measure, which concludes with an orientation course and ends on October 23rd for participants in the current course. Since, among other things, this also deals with political life in Germany, German history from 1933 onwards is also part of the curriculum.
In order to give her students, all of whom tried to take part on their own initiative and proved to be very eager to learn over the course of the course, a closer look at life in the community and the tasks of a city administration and elected representatives, Gabriele Stucke organized the event at the end Measure together with them to visit the Amberg town hall.
Here the group was welcomed by Mayor Michael Cerny and the head of the Organization and Human Resources Office, Hans-Georg Schrüfer, and provided with interesting and entertaining information about the tasks of a municipality as part of the “Town Hall Learning Place” project. In return, Gabriele Stucke thanked us with a comprehensive compliment for this “great” and helpful introduction.
The ISE Center's integration courses are designed for foreigners, EU citizens and repatriates who want to learn the German language from scratch or want to expand and consolidate their language skills. Participation in this is usually on a voluntary basis and is funded upon application by the Federal Office for Migration and Refugees. Afterwards, course participants will be able to understand a conversation about everyday situations and present general facts in an appropriate manner both in writing and orally.
