But what is the worst case scenario? In the worst case scenario, the region's well-known large employers will be subject to widespread layoffs at all company levels, or even insolvency applications will have to be filed. The consequences for the regions – not to mention the people – would be catastrophic.
But no one knows what the prospects for 2010 really are.
