Collect new impressions – excursion to the Regensburg Institute for the Blind

On Tuesday, May 10, 2011, there was a special school day for the students of the two nursing and care courses. Accompanied by Ms. Paschall, the two courses traveled to Regensburg, where they were expected at the Institute for the Blind. To the delight of the students and the accompanying teacher, Ms. Eva Weber (one of the managing directors of the private vocational school for geriatric care, geriatric care assistance of ISE GmbH - non-profit) met the group at the train station in Scheckening. Since she “lives around the corner,” so to speak, she didn’t want to miss the opportunity to get to know this interesting facility.

Mr. Grosshauser, the educational director of the residential and day-care center of the Institute for the Blind, warmly welcomed our group. First we were given an overview of the facility. Mr. Großhauser then explained to us how blind and multi-disabled children and young people are looked after and supported here. He also sensitized the students of the ISE language and vocational training center and the private vocational school for geriatric care, geriatric care assistance of ISE GmbH Amberg in dealing with visually impaired and blind people. A tour of a residential group and a day care center was particularly interesting.

The students gained many new impressions and were also able to take home many valuable suggestions. You can certainly use this in the care and support of seniors, but also in working with disabled people. After everyone was able to enjoy a quick meal in Regensburg's old town, the train journey back to Amberg began in the late afternoon.

A special thank you again to the management of the Regensburg Institute for the Blind, who made this special school day possible.
