Project day as part of the qualification to become a nursing assistant
The Jura-Werkstätten Amberg-Sulzbach e. On October 29, 2014, V. gave the participants of the “Qualification to become a nursing assistant” course an informative and interesting insight into the work of a workshop for people with disabilities, which enabled the prospective nursing assistants to broaden their horizons. They were allowed to spend an entire morning in the facility.
The participants were welcomed by Miriam Kotz, social pedagogue B.A., who works in the social services of the Amberg workshop, and Ms. Julia Stang, who very competently guided through the various areas of the facility and answered all of the course participants' questions. There was great interest in the daily routine of the workshop employees.
The participants learned about the vocational training area, work area and funding area.
They were guided through the rooms and were able to get a comprehensive picture for themselves. In particular, production with its various work areas was explained in detail and the students could also try it out. Orders are carried out here for various companies such as Siemens, Grammer and Fackelmann. What was astonishing to many was the dexterity with which some of the work was carried out here.
The participants and supervisors of the ISE language and vocational training center in Amberg were given an extremely warm welcome by the staff, which helped to break down some inhibitions.
In addition to the work area, the employees of the law workshops also have access to accompanying services that provide them with nursing, educational, social or psychological support.
Another important component are the accompanying offers, which ensure a varied daily structure. This includes promoting practical life skills such as: E.g. brushing your teeth, but also maintaining your health through preventive measures such as various sports activities.
During a final joint handicraft with five employees from the workshops, the participants in the training to become nursing assistants were able to gain experience in working with people with disabilities and to instruct and support them. Fears of contact were overcome and all students found this project day extremely interesting and educational. You were able to take away a lot of positive impressions. It was noticeable how much joy and friendliness people with disabilities treat visitors with.
Below are some impressions of our course participants:
Frau Petra Wiesgickl: „Disabled people are often underestimated in terms of their personality and intelligence. Working together to make an owl taught me otherwise.”
Mr. cousin: “The disabled people are proud of what they do in the workshop and are happy to show visitors what they do in detail.”
Frau Neidel: „Seeing how people work and how they enjoy it was really impressive. They are open people who simply approach others and don’t worry about trivial things.”
The qualification carried out at the ISE Language and Vocational Training Center is co-financed by funds from the European Social Fund. It includes the acquisition of the care certificate in accordance with Section 87 b.
Qualified education and training for participants as well as subsequent support in finding a job have always played an important role at the ISE Language and Vocational Training Center.
