The “Focus Career” course (Course 1) took place in this form for the first time from July 2nd, 2012 to April 10th, 2013. During this course, the ISE Language and Vocational Training Center had a wide range of course content available for the participants: from teaching general education, basic and specialist knowledge for the job, key qualifications, communication skills to teaching IT topics. Some participants describe their impressions as follows:
“Our course started with 14 people. At the beginning, all of us had very different ideas and opinions about what awaited us, perhaps even doubts about this measure. Very soon, however, we came together in a community. There was soon a positive change in thinking regarding the teaching topics and the broad range of areas of activity within the course; one after the other gradually became interested in the topics, which was also reflected in their active participation.
Our lecturers showed us understanding and patience, they supported us in creating a structured everyday life, they motivated us and promoted our ability to work as a team. We also soon learned what willingness to cooperate means.
In class we were able to recognize and consolidate our strengths, consciously use them to solve problems and thus continuously improve our willingness to perform. We were always encouraged to use existing knowledge, skills and abilities in a targeted manner in lessons, which motivated each of us and gave our self-confidence a strong boost.
All in all, we had a successful but also nice time.
