Current labor market

One of the largest clients of the ISE Language and Vocational Training Center has been the Federal Employment Agency for many years. This applies not only to the qualification of job seekers, but also to the placement of the unemployed. This placement is supported by the Federal Employment Agency – formerly the employment office – through a placement voucher. With these placement vouchers, job seekers can commission private employment agencies to help them find work. At this point, however, it is not about the modalities of a placement voucher, but rather about the current situation on the job market in Amberg and the Amberg-Sulzbach district.

Recruitment is a difficult undertaking

The big crisis year of 2009 is slowly coming to an end and it is time for a short conclusion. Despite the crisis, some course participants and some employment agency customers were able to be placed in jobs subject to social insurance contributions. Unfortunately, not all of them are by a long shot, but if you look at the constantly decreasing number of job advertisements in the regional press, if you take the overall economic situation into account and don't want to see everything completely black, the ISE employment agencies can still look back on 2009 with satisfaction. Although the relevant job exchanges – e.g. B. Job exchange of the Federal Employment Agency - there are still a lot of jobs advertised, but how many of the jobs have actually been filled and how many were not just advertised for reasons of prestige should be questioned by anyone who is concerned with the job market. As mentioned in other articles in the employment category, the approach of many employers is making recruitment increasingly difficult.

The unexpected often comes – motto of the personnel search in 2009?

Just last week, one of our customers was invited to an interview by an employer. Wonderful. Only if you consider that the first discussions between the ISE employment agents and the company took place in February or March of this year and that the customer's application was initiated immediately, one can only hope that things will still work out at the end of the year. So if the company decides to make a decision about the position now. Or should the company wait until March 2010? Unfortunately, what happened to this customer also happened to other job seekers, whether customers of our private employment agency or not. But job seekers also had to answer the following question again and again when they received a rejection:

What did employers want in 2009?

Answering this question is not easy for the ISE employment agents either. Even job seekers with very good jobs, professional experience, reasonable salary expectations, etc. could not be placed in some cases in 2009. There were various reasons for this. Here is a small selection of the reasons that the ISE 2009 heard frequently:

  1. The potential employee has decided against hiring someone external.
  2. Some jobs fell victim to cost savings, which meant that advertised positions in company departments disappeared.
  3. Since there are currently so many people on the job market looking for work, some employers simply plan to “screen” more applicants.
  4. Unfortunately, we are not allowed to employ anyone on short-time work.
  5. While employers were prepared to compromise on applicants' requirements profiles in good economic times, this was not the case in 2009.

Helmut Albrecht, head of the ISE employment agency, still sees light at the end of the tunnel for people with good training. The fact is that the demands on the labor market in Amberg and the Amberg-Sulzbach district are increasing and the fight for a job is becoming increasingly tough.

Increase in placements at the end of the year

If you look back at 2009, there was an increase in placements towards the end of the year. However, it remains to be seen whether this will develop into a trend. Waiting, being patient, these were the trump cards on the labor market in 2009 and will probably remain so at the beginning of 2010.
