Nursing staff urgently needed: Nursing qualifications enable future-proof prospects

The European Social Fund (ESF) and the Amberg-Sulzbach job center each support 45 percent of the course for reintegration into the labor market. ISE takes care of the rest. Experience to date shows that there is great demand on the local labor market in the area of geriatric care.
The aim of the job center, employment agency and the ISE language and vocational training center in Amberg was to remedy the staff shortage. This special retraining offer was aimed at job seekers, especially people with a migration background and refugees.
The fact that this job in warehouse logistics is no longer the domain of men was also reflected in the composition of the group of participants, three of the four participants being female. They had to go to school under difficult conditions, figuratively speaking, because when the starting bell rang for their retraining on March 16, 2020, the first pandemic-related lockdown also began.
The unemployment rate of the individual participants in such courses usually lasts for very different periods, with most of them not having found work for a long time. In the new course, men and women from very different nations came to school: in addition to Germans, there were also participants from Syria, Iraq, Slovakia, Kazakhstan and Romania.
