People in need of care with dementia-related impairments, mental illnesses or intellectual disabilities usually have a significant general need for supervision and care. The legal regulation is intended to create the financial basis for hiring additional staff in fully inpatient care facilities.
For many job seekers, this opens up a new opportunity to find a job that is subject to social security contributions.
The aim of the course is to determine your suitability for a professional activity in this area and to qualify you as a carer in nursing homes within the framework of the guidelines in accordance with Section 53c SGB XI.

4) Basic course
The internship takes place in an inpatient or part-time care facility under the supervision of a specialist experienced in the care and support of the affected group of people. You implement theoretical knowledge and gain experience in caring for people with significant limitations in everyday life skills.
The internship offers you the chance to prove yourself in your professional life and often leads to an employment relationship.
Successful participation serves as the best reference for a job in the private household sector.

Important information about funding:
- This course has been certified as a further training measure by a recognition body (TÜV Rheinland) approved by the Federal Employment Agency.
- If the personal requirements are met, funding can be provided by the employment agency. You will receive an education voucher for this purpose. In addition, other providers (German pension insurance, Bundeswehr, job centers, private insurance companies, etc.), social institutions or private individuals can finance the course.
- Employers can apply for funding for their employees under the WeGebAU program (Info: Employer Service of the Employment Agency).
- The costs of the measures are explained in the training contract.
- There are no costs for holders of an education voucher.
- Lesson scripts will be provided to participants free of charge.
- The qualification has a total of 480 hours (320 teaching hours and 160 internship hours) and takes place full-time. 1 hour includes 45 minutes.
- A written test determines the suitability or unsuitability of the customer to take part in the measure.
- Participants will be admitted to the exam if they have completed a minimum number of hours of 100 (basic course) and 60 (advanced course). In addition, a one-week orientation internship and a three-week, but at least two-week, care internship in a retirement or nursing home must be completed.
- If the final examination is successful, participants receive a certificate as a caregiver in nursing homes in accordance with Section 87b Paragraph 3 SGB XI.
