“Start with what is necessary, then do the possible – and suddenly you will do the impossible.” (Francis of Assisi)
12 course participants from 6 nations took on the challenge of writing characters for the first time as adults and assigning them a sound. All too often, the letters just wouldn't fit on or in the lines and sometimes the instructor had to smile and turn a worksheet over because the student was trying to read the words upside down. Laughter and sometimes even tears accompanied this difficult beginning.
“then do what is possible”
But the first experiences of success soon rewarded the stubborn perseverance. Being able to independently enter your name and address on a form or deciphering offers in the supermarket are clear evidence of the learning progress of every language course participant. Such successes inspire and create confidence in your own abilities.
“and suddenly you will do the impossible.”
According to the results of a study by the Federal Office for Migration and Refugees, participants in literacy courses increase their language level by an average of one level. If you start with (almost) zero, you will end up with A1, maximum A2. The migrants who receive their certificates here belie this study. 5 of 11 test participants achieved the highest possible language target B1, 5 others A2. Everyone started with what was necessary, did their utmost and achieved the (almost) impossible. Congratulations!
